Even though a Concrete element may be fire upgraded with spray applied coatings, special attention should be directed at ensuring that the appropriate Fire Resistance system is installed in constructions joints, control joints and expansion joints. In fire affected buildings and in particular with fire damaged concrete, it is advisable that specialist engineering advice be sought.
As with all elements, in particular their behaviour in fire, it is imperative that the overall concrete cover thickness above the decking be the same as the concrete thickness of the tested prototype. Special precautions must be taken to ensure that such a deficiency, should it exist, is catered for.
Fire rated roof / floor ceiling systems must be equal to the system used in the Standard Fire Resistance Test. As an example, a ceiling system suspended 300 mm below a metal deck roof will not provide the same performance results when fixed directly to the purlins.
