Fire-resistant coating for air-handling systems
Product Description
Vermiduct® is ideal for steel or polymer ducting, fan enclosures, plenums, wall penetrations, electrical and data cable trays, as well as separating construction. This uniquely developed gypsum-vermiculite product (plus trace chemical additives) is non-combustible to AS 1530.1, does not evolve smoke when tested to AS 1530.3 and is factory blended to ensure consistency, high quality, durability and in-place performance.
Effective Fireproofing
Vermiduct® significantly increases the fire resistance of unprotected sheet metal ductwork requiring neither additional wrap-around nor rigid insulation. Because of the lightweight and comparatively thin external coating required (under British Standards one requires 25mm, and under Australian Standards one requires a 38 mm thickness to achieve a 2 hour FRL) Vermiduct® is highly cost effective. It is quick and easy to install and does not delaminate when it comes into contact with water.
Technical Information
Vermiduct® is manufactured under factory controlled conditions to ISO 9001-2008; ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18001 Quality Standards. It is delivered to site in ‘batch’ form, ready to be mixed to the required consistency before application. CSIRO testing has proven that Vermiduct® complies with even the most stringent international standards. It has been rigorously fire tested in accordance with AS1530 Part 4 and BS476 Part 24. It fully satisfies the criteria for STABILITY, INTEGRITY and INSULATION to four (4) hours FRL.
Health and Safety
Vermiduct® does not evolve smoke, is totally safe and does not contain asbestos or other forms of fibrous materials.
Vermiduct® is a blend of gypsum and vermiculite providing a breathable coating which fungus growth, important characteristics when wanting to avoid "Sick Building Syndrome".
Environmental Sustainability
Vermiduct® has no long-term environmental effects on air, water or land. Both the product and the container can be recycled or disposed of as landfill. When used as standalone or combined with Trimesh® to provide acoustic and fire protective engineering solutions, Vermiduct® may positively influence any ‘Green’ rating system (i.e. LEEDs) from 36 percent to 51 percent.
