Vermitex® DX

Passive Fireproofing - Internal & Trafficable Areas Applications

Product Description

Vermitex® DX is a vermiculite-cement blend with trace chemical additives and polymer fibres formulated to provide passive fire protection to elements of building construction on a variety of backgrounds.

Effective Fireproofing

Vermitex® DX may be applied to interior steel, concrete and other substrates to enhance the Fire Resistance Level (FRL) of building and construction elements, and at the same time provide a more durable finish. Vermitex® DX provides increased resistance to mechanical abrasion, and is ideal for plant rooms and heavy traffic areas.

Technical Information

Vermitex® DX is manufactured under factory controlled conditions to ISO 9001-2008; ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18001 Quality Standards. It is delivered to site in ‘batch’ form, ready to be mixed to the required consistency before application.

Health and Safety

Vermitex® DX contains no asbestos and presents no known health hazard before, during or after application. Normal precautions relevant to the handling of cement products apply.

Environmental Sustainability

Vermitex® DX has no long-term environmental impact on air, water or land. Both the product and the bag can be recycled or disposed of as landfill. When used as standalone or combined with Trimesh® to provide Acoustic and Fire protective engineering solutions, Vermitex® DX may positively influence any ‘Green’ rating system (i.e. LEEDs) from 36 percent to 51 percent.

Vermitex® DX may be combined with any of LAF’s proprietary products and accessories to form a versatile, resilient and durable fireproofing ‘system’. A bond coat of Vermitex® 7 combined with Vermibond® sprayed to concrete or steel will significantly improve adhesion and in-place performance against fire. Effective compartmentalisation against fire and enhanced  protection against the passage of heat and noise can be achieved by spraying the Vermitex® DX to Trimesh® or Quikmesh®, to form vertical and horizontal fireproof constructions. Additional protection against moisture is achieved by applying approved surface coatings such as Vapotex®, Ferma-Rain® and Exidroil®, over the Vermitex® DX. The most popular Vermitex® DX application is in fire-stopping, with work also carried out in protecting CFRP systems. In recent time, our research into the fire protection of CFRPs has focused on Vermitex® TH.
